BACKGROUND:
A 2-act, 2-hander play adapted for the stage by Susan Shillingford from
the written works of Canadian artist, Emily Carr, was first produced
by Whistling Fish Productions at Intrepid Theatre Studio in Victoria,
BC Canada in November 2008.
Featuring Alison Preece as the 'Younger Emily' and
Susan Shillingford as the 'Older Emily', the show was directed by Geoff
Noble and received a warm & positive response from audiences for its entire
run.
PLOT:
Through the discovery of an old journal, the 'spirit' of Emily Carr (1871-1945)
relives her tumultuous life, her journey as an artist, and her hard-fought-for
successes in receiving recognition and support for her unorthodox approach
to her work and to life.
